Hello! My name is Giovanni Velez and welcome to my blog. I am currently a student at the University of Illinois at Chicago who is majoring in Communications with a minor in Professional Writing. Growing up with sports my entire life–whether it was playing or consuming its content–I realized at a young age that I wanted to something that involves sports. Specifically, American football and basketball.
High school taught me two things. First, I learned that I wasn’t the best when it came to playing sports. If I couldn’t do it in high school, I wasn’t going to be able to do it college. Second, because of this English class I took my senior year, I knew I had the potential to be a pretty good writer. By the time I graduated, I thought to myself: “Why not combine the two?”
So, with the help of my digital journalism class, I created this blog to combine both of my interests. Some of my early content is assignment based and for that reason isn’t really sports-related. Don’t worry! More sports-related content will be coming soon!
